wierd stalling issue

whenever i slow down in gear whether on the brakes or just engine braking (like to a stop) as soon as i push in the clutch, the revs fall all the way and i stall. if i push the clutch and then slow down, the revs will go slightly below normal idle but then come back up and be normal. what sensor is going bad?

On occasion I have the same issue with my 97 TJ. I've noticed that when this occurs, my speedometer fluctuates from 0 - max, and sometimes stays at 0 even when I am driving. Also my odometer does not work when the speedometer is acting up... Really sucks

TPS or speedo gear. Mine did that when my speedo gear got chewed up. check the plug to the gear and pull the gear to see if it is ok. make sure it is in the correct position as well.

its been a while, but the cause of this was the speedo position.

As you are off throttle the IAC is controlling the engine speed. It might be sticking a bit. Might be time to clean the IAC and throttle body.
