why why why?

Why can't I find a good deal on a TJ anywhere??? I've been looking for over TWO months... Why are they so overpriced with the amount of miles on them? I want one so bad but I'm not going to spend $13k for something that has 80k miles on it! It is ridiculous. I don't know how... but could anyone help me?

Obviously if they're all overpriced....that's the price they are!
I think maybe you should look into a nice ford escape or something.
If you think you only have to put money out once for a wrangler.....you're way wrong! It's only just begun!

bought mine for 2000 and only had 53000 miles and everything was in perfect condition i think you should set out for a 4 cyl. there a little cheaper and i dont think you lose much power anyway.. Just trying to help.

13,000 is a drop in the bucket compared to what you will probably spend on accessories for it. But seriously your best advice is to start looking online and be willing to travel a little way to get one. Remember Jeeps are like motorcycles, they go up in price typically when summer gets here so if you can hold out till next winter you might get a better deal.

Well you can look at it this way I spent 10,000 on mine but it has a D30 35 combination, so by the time I get the right lift, axls tires ext. I mine as well spend to 18,000 or so for a Rubi, at least with that you could run 33’s without much trouble.

Be Patient

I went looking back in '03 and bought the perfect "X", nice looking, excellent gas mileage, went everywhere I wanted to go, and then, like a dummy, 3 years later, bought an '06, and now all hell has broke lose. I spend more money each month buying junk that I probably will never have need of and now have no mileage (10 on a good day), can't afford to drive, but it looks good in the garage.

Bottom Line - Again, take your time and make sure it is what YOU want.

All the Best!

I know what you mean I looked for a long time and glad that I waited. I got my rig last year it is a 97 sport w/39,000 miles on it for $10k which I thought was a really good deal since I saw older ones with double or more miles and not as many options for $8 to $10k . It was in show room cond. has a/c, auto, 6cyl. and a hard top to top it off.

Some sites I use, autotrader, cars, craigslist, and ebay. Keep looking youll find one just keep searching...good luck!

Be patient and you will find what you want. If you are looking for a good deal you are shopping at the wrong time of the year. Around here dealerships that normally have no Jeeps will have 5 or 6 because they bring such good money during spring and the beginning of summer.

Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes it takes time. I bought mine three days after my Cherokee flipped over. And remember that the day after you buy one you will find a better deal. Just remember that whatever you buy.... that's your baby and no other is like it.

Ditto on the comments on wrong time of the year to buy a tj.

Friend of mine runs a used car lot, and he's complaining about what he's paying wholesale for the things. Mine, a 98 with 107k, lift/tires, was wholesaling at 8700 with an oil leak and shifting issues with the transfer case. It's hard to find one for under 10 here, and I've already had a couple people interested in mine, and I've had it a week.

I thought 8700 was too much to pay for what I have, but after shopping aorund, I couldn't touch anything else in a tj for under 13k.

Your location says NEPA. No wonder you are having a hard time, not that many good Jeeps in Nepal.

Seriously, you are probably discovering why a lot of people end up settling for a 4 banger. Price seems to be very dependent on location with TJs, but I looked for almost a year and never did find a nice six that was priced under $10k. You may have more luck if you are willing to buy out of the area you are in now. But like someone else said, the going rate is the going rate.
