ok so i was lookin over my new tj and i noticed on my d30 the front axles have boots where the u joint would just be exposed. Does that mean i have a cv joint??? i have never heard of that before. I tried lookin through the search but came up with nothing.. whats goin on here??

but my question is, or my copnfusion is i thought the wranglers didnt come with cv joints. are those stronger than the u joint or whats going on? Not tryin to be mean but im a technician i know what a cv joint is and how it works lmao. I was and still am confused about the axle shaft having the cv joint instead of the u joint. So which one is stronger then in the case of stock equipment on a tj?

pictures would be good,
I would think the U-Joints would be stronger than a CV joint but it would depend on the size and strength of the metal. |

First, it is a D30, not D35.
Second, you can get CV joints for the TJ but I haven't seen any with rubber boots. The only ones I have seen have an orange cover. I can't remember the name right now though...

Grand Cherokee dana 30's had cv joints, maybe somebody installed them into your dana 30.

if it was from a ZJ or WJ it would be low pinion. It is a possibility though.

yup ZJ CV shafts. they're not all that strong...you could have a LP D30 from a ZJ in your Jeep...or somebody just swapped the shafts over thinking they'd be stronger. you can even see the ABS tone ring.
