Why does my manual have an o/d off button?

I have an 06 wrangler and was wondering why it has the o/d off button still on the dash. Is this a mistake or do they all have them? Thanks

Can you post a good clear photo of that button and where it's located? Use of a flash would be nice too.

If you are talking about what would be an indicator light, all the panels are made the same. Just not all the lights installed.

Did you buy it used? Maybe a previous owner used it as an on/off switch for other accessories.

My 04 has the wiring run to the back of the switch blank for the ODoff switch but is a 5 spd but no actual switch . I assume that the wiring is just part of the standard harness and not connected to anything on the other end . Like said before , maybe the previous owner was using a factory switch for some lights or other accessories .

This might actually be a feasible (sp?) explanation depending on when it was produced. Being so close to the end of production, they might have just said "ahh, oh well, throw it in there".

if you take a REAL close look at your dash, you will see things that will say: cruise, front lock, rear lock,4-hi,4-low...etc.

You might get the light to come on, but lights are for idiots. Never trust the lights.

The thing I am talking about is where the rear defrost and the back window button is. I don't have those but I do have the o/d button with the amber light on the tip of it, the light does not light up when I push the button though. I will try to take a pic to show everyone. And It is brand new only 3 miles when I got it yesterday. 06 jeep green 65th.

Now you have free switch to use for windshield lights or something nice like that. I know in my Rubi I would use it it for a saftey switch on the diff lock mod.
