Who Stole My Trackbar ????
http://www.jeepforum.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=4&ppuser=224543I put on my new skyjacker 4" springs last week to replace the old 3" spacers and noticed that there was no rear track bar on my jeep. WTF? I have been driving the jeep for 8 months now and didnt realize this. i called the previous owner and he said that he took it off when he placed the budget lift kit on 4 years ago and never put one back on. i do have the front adjustable track bar and front and rear sway bars connected with stock control arms, mml and tranny drop. the jeep rides awesome though. better than my friends rough country 4" lift. and i wheel regularly. why am i not having any problems that people talk about with most coil spring suspensions and track bar.
i thought it would cause major damage. looked at the rear tires going down the road and rear maybe moves 1/8 to 1/4 inch side to side on turns??? what to do???

Does the skyjacker come with a relocation bracket for the OE trackbar? If so you can probably find a trackbar in the classifieds here on the forum. I'm sure someone has had upgrade theirs. If not then it sounds like you might have to nut up and buy a new adjustable rear trackbar.

You must be thinking of the sway bar. No TJ was built without a rear track bar.

If I can find my OE one, I'll shot it to you for cost of shipping.
I think it's laying around somewhere in my garage. ![]() But I honestly don't know how you haven't trashed your control arms, and caused a lot of damage.

There isn't nearly as much lateral load on the rear non-steering axle as there is on the front. That is how it has somehow managed to live for this long. I would put one on it! I can't believe it doesn't handle like garbage!

i know. im confused. i have ordered a new adjustable one that should come in on monday. but my control arms are in excelent condition. like i said.. it rides better than my friends. makes me almost believe that the rear really doesnt need a rear track bar.

Without the track bar all that is holding your axle under the jeep is the shocks and control arms. They aren't meant to work in the side to side direction so there is probably a lot of stress on the bolts as you go around a corner.

Having seen how much the rear axle moves around without the track bar, on jack stands, there is no way I’d drive it without the track bar installed.

Ity's not hearsay, it's simple geometry, physics, and engineering. But if you think it's hearsay and want to run it that way, good luck. I hope for the sake of everyone around you that when whatever failure is going to occur does; you're not on a public street!
