Who makes the widest TJ/LJ front and/or rear bumpers?

I'm asking because I don't like stubby bumpers. I'm not rockcrawling. I want a full width bumper that in front protects the fenders and some of the flare. Like a bumper that is more than 60" wide so that it comes out to in front of flare.

As of now, I only know of ARB front bumper being as wide as stock flares, which I like.

With rear bumpers I know of ARB, Schrockworks (I have), Big Daddy (my favorite rear bumper), and I think also M.O.R.E. brand rear.

I want my bumpers to give full width protection, or as close to it as I can get. By "full width" in frontend I mean past the fenders and part way out in front of the flares. What brands do you recommend I look at?

Road Armor has some huge bumpers that might fit your needs: http://www.roadarmor.com/site/jeep/tj.php

Thanks, the Road Armor is almost what I'm looking for, but not that massive. The ARB is best I've seen so far for what I want, but I'm holding out hope that others may be out there too. I will check out those two members mentioned who make bumpers.

If I was looking for a full width bumper it would be the Arb. They just seem real functional as far as bumpers go. A couple of my buddies in town have them.

^^^ X2 on not knowing what exactly the OP needs. I assume just looks. You sound like you go crawling, whereas I don't think the OP does.

That ARB Bull bumper is extremely tough. My 03 was rolled and the ARB bumper was in really good shape after the roll.

I don't rock crawl, no. But I do everything else you can do with a Jeep on all sorts of terrains. I'm not after a bumper for looks. It's not a poser.

I want a bumper that I can go deer hunting without needing the rifle. Just line em up between the sights (between the fender flares). he he

OK, I'm not going to be intentionally running over deer or elk, but accidents do literally happen here all the time. My need for this is exactly the same as the Australians need for a bull bar to keep bulls and steers out of their radiators and fenders, except in my case the large hooved animals are deer and elk that can jump out unexpectedly at any time, which is especially a problem if happens in a tight curve in road (making evasion more difficult).

I once literally saw a stock CJ8 totaled by a deer strike that ruined fender, grill, radiator, and engine. The freaking engine even caught fire and my dad (I was a kid at the time) had to grab a fire extinguisher from his van and help put out the engine fire. The guy with the CJ was lucky because it didn't come through his windshield, but it sure tuned up his Jeep. If he had a good bull bar with full width protection, his Jeep would have probably not been damaged. Funny thing is he was taking a brand new dealership Jeep on a test drive when it happened, and we just happened to be behind him.

I've seen many other deer strikes and had many close calls and near misses myself over the years. It's a regular occurrence here. In fact, just a few months ago a local go his Grand Cherokee totaled by a deer strike. An elk strike would be much worse. I've never seen that happen, but I was with my dad when we had a near miss with an elk.

I don't want to pay for a Road Armor bumper, nor want something heavier or more snag prone than necessary. The ARB is looking better and better, but I wish it had full height protection that came to top of grille/hood like the ARB bumper for XJs has. The ARB bumper for XJs is the real deal. No poser there. It would put the smack down on any deer and probably even a cow elk. I don't think anything would fend off a bull elk though (that'd be like hitting a car). Unfortunately the ARB for TJ does not offer full height protection.

Any chance I could install an ARB bumper made for an XJ onto my LJ?

I suppose if you can weld, have an angle grinder and have some extra steel laying around, you could make it fit.

but then again, if you knew how to weld and fabricate, you'd just make the bumper you want in the first place.

Years ago, when I got my Jeep it was already on it. It still is and I kinda like it...
