Mine gets 16.5 city and around 18 hiway, with the only mod being a K&N air filter.

Just an FYI, but this is a forum that takes sometimes days to get a good reply. I said that because you seemed disappointed that no one answered you between 2:30AM and 9:30AM. (I was asleep most of the time)

What kind of mileage are you getting?

01 Sport, front drum brake & birfield joint conversion, custom '4 Wheel Drive' stickers, neon washer nozzles, chrome type 'r' oil pan bolts, wooden bead seat pads, racing exhaust tip, offroad license plate frame,
lots of misc. stuff (2.5" Skyjacker springs, 1" BL, 1"MML, Custom flat tcase & engine skid, RE arms, Skyjacker shocks, JKS Discos, Superlift Trac bars, Garvin bumpers, Warn 9.5ti, Lockright & trac-lock, 32" BFG KM's, Kilby & warn skids, EOR rocker bars, cowl snorkel)

I get about 15 miles to the gallon in the city. If you are concerned with gas mileage i would suggest purchasing a throttle body spacer and a K&N.

2001 Sport, 4.0 bored over .030, perfomance cam/chip, 4"pro comp stage 2, gibson cat back, 33" pro comp AT, and lots more little goodies

I haven't had my TJ for even a month yet.
My specs are below, besides that, I have a K&N air filter. I haven't used a full tank on just street driving yet but I anticipate around 13 mpg, which is mostly freeway (not gridlock) driving. I'm not really satisfied with this number, I will live with it if I have to, but I will see what I can do to make it better.

A 4.0 isn't going to get better than 17 unless coasting downhill. A 2.5 might.
Jeeps are bricks on wheels. If you want gas mileage buy a HONDA.

I get close to 20 pretty regularly. My 97 TJ is bone stock, 30" wheel package, 5spd.
Nothing fancy as far as plugs, Champion Truck, mostly highway driving, the only 4 wheeling I get to do now is pulling up stumps and dragging silly people off the beach with their whannabe 4 wheelers.
I've got close to 80,000 miles, maybe there is a break-in period???

I'm going to throw up the B. S. flag on getting close to 20. 15-16 is close to 20 but you aren't going to get any better than that. better get a new calculator.

All this talk fo fuel mileage reminds me of the 8cyl Camaro I had when I was a kid. My grandfather was a really good mechanic and I asked him how I could get better gas mileage. His reply, "Lie" Just my two cents worth.

If I attach the flag to my attenna I bet I'll gain at least 5 hp!
I will say on average, I get 19-20 mpg. 40 miles all highway each day to/fro work.

I have a 98 2.5L. I get 19-25mpg with an average of about 23mpg. I would love that extra power but the extra cast up front and then for the life of the vehicle was a shock. I have some friends with the 4.0L who put up their BS flags all the time and try to tell me they get even better milage than I do. Now I finally have the truth. I think they are just trying to make themselves feel better.
