where do you put your disconnected stock sway bars?

Im going to try to build a shovel holder for my roof rack tomorrow but if i have some spare time i want to see for myself how much flex i can get out of my jeep. I have beefed up sway bar links but they are still pretty much stock size and function like stock ones do. It seems to me that i run the risk of crunching somthing if i just leave them hanging there while i go crawling up a log. I will of course go very slow but are there any ways i can be sure these links are out of the way without taking them all the way off? (i only plan on removing the bottom torx bolt)

Just for fun, any ideas on how high a wrangler with stock tires and a 2.5 suspention kit can get a tire up?

I have the JKS quicker disconnects, and they come with a pin that you attach to your frame, and you just fold them up and put them on the pin and they get held in place there. Kind of hard to explain.

JKS Discos

I have JKS quick discos on the front. Here is a pic of what I have while the quick discos are up on the sway bar is not connected. You just pull out the pin on the bottum quick disco and move it into the upright position and lock it into the position as shown below.

In the picture attached the blue circle is the quick disco in the upright and locked position and the blue line is where it would be when it is connected to the spring.

The quick disco will stay connected to the sway bar at all times just not connected to the spring.

Make sure you remove these when you are driving on anything not the road I have inverted them very very easily.

Here's a close up of my JKS disco's on the storage pin position. I need to move the pins a little more forward so they clear the tire better when stuffed. FYI, I cannot remember the last time I actually put them back on the axle even though it's my DD.

Thanks guys for the pictures. Now I have a better idea for where to put my stow pins.

J03_TJ how much further do you need to put them so they wont rub? And if you could tell me a distance from something so I can get the right spot.
Thanks

I just measured and the pins are now at just about 3" behind the slotted hole shown in the pic. Just "ball parking it" I am going to re-mount them about 2" forward from where they are now, so about an inch behind the slotted hole. From what I can tell the tires should not hit the pin area with this change, and if they do still rub it will be on the black tube portion of the disconnect. I don't think they will hit though since I have two washers on each steering stop. As is the driver side rubs on the storage pin keeper pin and keep busting them off.
Also, mount one side pin and then put that side's link in place and go to the other side and using the other link's bushing mark where you need the second side mounted.
Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like you don't want to buy swaybar disco's you just want to disconect what you have and go play around tomorrow. I don't have the fancy discos yet so I just keep some heavy zip ties in the Jeep, have not failed me yet,

I have home-made disconnects (hitch pins etc).

I push the sway bar up and lay the rods on top of the shock towers - They stay put even through the rough stuff.

well since they're stock links, and everyone posted about quick disco's.. here's what you can do.

unbolt the sway bar links from the axle side and swing the whole thing up. get some zipties and strap the links to something. on my stock LJ i usually ziptie it to a little bracket thats on the spring perch that keeps it out of the way of everything.

NOTE: If you're going to do this, make sure they are HEAVY zip ties, as I've had zip ties fail many times. I finally just got the stow pins that were supposed to have come with my TeraFlex disconnects anyway.
