when to replace tie rod ends?

So I just got a ZJ V8 tie rod and drag link to replace my stock hollow TJ one and how do i know if I should replace the tie rod ends or if they're good? Thanks

Did you get new or used? I'm assuming used. You didn't need the drag link as there is not much difference between the stock TJ and ZJ links. Did you check for play in any of the joints before you bought it? They get replaced when they have play, it's not like a fluid that you change at regular intervals. For the cost of the new tie rods from places like NAPA and Advance I wouldn't buy used. JMO.

A new one from auto zone was $63 I got mine for $15 hence the used:/ I wish I got a new one but yea i can move the bolt around by hand in the circular motion but it probably has lost all its grease so im not sure if that would make it move a bit. It was stiff at first but aster a little push I can spin it around. does that mean there gone? My TJ only has 25,000 should I just swap mine back over or see what one moves less?

It's kinda hard to check tie rod ends unless they are mounted in a vehicle. Just because you can move it around by hand doesn't mean that it's good or bad. Have you already mounted the assembly in your Jeep?

No I havnt yet I was hoping to replace it before if needed. So I should install it first?
