Wheel Spacers or not?

What is the accpetable spacing between the upper spring perch and the tire? I ran without spacers for a while, put them on, and I'm taking them off and I have about 5/8's of an inch spacing at 30psi. I didn't notice it was that small before, but is this ok?

Also, I have 2 tire gauges, one I bought from autozone, reads 30 psi. One I got for Xmas, durabuilt or something, reads about 25. Which one should I believe?

I should also include I'm back up at school working on my Jeep in the parking lot, and I don't have my air compressor or jackstands, just a torque wrench and a small tool kit.

With those 285/75R16s you should have 5" of backspacing to run them safely. If you don't you might rip one open on the spring perch.
