what's under '97 Wrangler soundbar fabric?
My fabric covering the coundbar is purple, not black like it used to be. What is under the fabric and foamy material anyway? Has anyone ripped off the fabric and foam and kept the soundbar bare or sprayed it with anything? Pics would be awesome.

Cover the speakers and spray the fabric with black upholstery dye like you can find in any automotive store.

I meant what is the box made of and is it fairly attractive or do I need the covering to make it look OK?

Never had good results with fabric paint (IMO).

IIRC, it a press formed steel panel on the back side with waves in it. I don't remeber the speaker side.
I wouldn't consider it attractive.

Has anyone taken off the fabric/padding and put bed liner on it (line-x, rhino, etc)? That might be pretty cool.

It's made from sheetmetal and covered in foam that is held on with a glue that is impossible to remove without a torch. It's very ugly. I removed all that crap and layered mine with Raamat.
Try fabric dye or maybe you can order a new cover from the dealer? The cover zips off like a sleeping bag.

Did I say fabric paint? No, I said upholstery dye. Dyes and paints are totally different with dye being what gives our seats, carpets, and the sound bar covering their color.

I had asked this question since my fabric seems to have shrunk anyway on the ends. The left and right sides don't reach all the way around the rollbar to velcro to the underside of the soundbar anymore. I though I'd remove all the fabric and foad then paint the bare soundbar but now that doesn't seem like a good idea anymore based on forum feedback.

Mine seems to have developed this problem too. It's really annoying.
