Whats behind the ash tray blank on my 04 TJ?
I am installing a tran temp guage on my jeep, i was wondering if anyone knows how much space is behind the blank where they used to put the ash trays in the jeeps? I would put it next to my t-case shifter, but i have switches there and it wont fit and i dont want the pod on my dashboard with wires running out of it or sticking out from the side of the console for fears of it getting ripped off?

Should be enough room. My ARB switches went there. How deep is the guage. There is nothing behind that blank. I'm guessing at least 1 1/2" or more.

You mean like this with the gauge below? I had plenty of room to mount the gauge. It needed I believe a 2-1/16" hole.

I have an Autometer trans temp gauge there. It makes for a clean installation.
