What size Jack/Jack stands?

What size jack/jack stands should I get to work on the Jeep? I am going to be installing my BB this week, and want to make sure I don't get ones that are too short.

Thanks

You need 21- 21" of lift, which means 6 ton jack stands. Something like $20-/pair at Harbor Freight.

Get the biggest jack stands you can. I think mine are 6-ton capacity. Check the construction because you don't want them failing when you are under the Jeep!

Also get an SUV/truck floor jack. You'll be glad you did.

I picked up a pair of 6 ton stands at the Farm store. I still have some 2 ton stands that I place w/o weight under key areas as a fail-safe.

Yes, I'm paranoid.

I have 3 sets: 1 set of 3 ton (great for support at the axles) and 2 sets of 6 tons (great for @ the frame). One thing I always do is carry a stand with me when I go wheeling.

Yes, I'm paranoid.
there was a guy by me working on a honda in his backyard. his jack system 2x4s did not hold and the fella got crushed by his car and died.

you're not paranoid, you're smart.

it's an awesome hobby the jeep thing, but there's no reason to get killed over it!!!

i use the craftsman 6ton stands, and usually support with any other jacks i have laying around.
