What's the trick to an socketless push lock fittings?

I'm not sure where to post this so move if needed.

I've been pushing and twisting and oiling and heating 1 connector for several hours now and I can't figure out how to slip the hose over the fitting. It keeps stopping at the second barb.

Any tips?

If it is a 90 or a 45, you need to clamp it in a vise just below the stop collar. Do not clamp on the nut at all for any reason. That means you are barely going to get it in the vise but do so with it pointing straight up. Warm the hose end with a heat gun just enough that you can barely touch it or roughly 140. Squirt some power steering fluid into the end of the hose, grab it with both hands and push it onto the barbed end.

We do this with all hose sizes from Aeroquip for socketless fittings all the up through -12 and it works perfectly every single time.

If you have a straight fitting, same thing applies except you will need a male fitting to clamp in the vise by the hex to screw the straight onto to hold it for you.

Thank you! My hands are raw from trying. I'll cut clean ends tomorrow and try your method to the letter.
