I mainly use the jeep on road, but would like to have decent off road performance as well.

I will be running bilstein 5100s with 2.5" coils

Depending on how much you're off-roading and what you're wanting to spend - I like (and this is from off-road to on-road performance)

Fox
OME
BDS
Monroe

I have the BDS 9500 silver series and I drive my Jeep to and from work everyday, and off-road on the weekends and I've been very pleased with them and they're pretty reasonably priced. BDS will also replace any of their parts for as long as you own the vehicle if you can break it. For another $15-20 you can get the BDS/Fox joint venture 2.0 shocks. But there again that's upwards of $100 per shock.

Monroe makes a good all-purpose shock that's much cheaper, and also there's Rough Country that's pretty reasonable but I've heard some complaints. Really just depends on what you're wanting to invest.

Im running the Teraflex 9550's on my 2.5" lift. They ROCK! They are valved specifically for the TJs weight and performance. They were a little bit stiff for the first few weeks. Out of the box they were night and day better than my ES3000's. Mine have broken in nicely for a good solid feel but they dont transfter that spinal crushing blow when i run over my neighbors cats anymore, but still give that confident handling feel on the street so i can still swerve for the cats and not feel like im gonna roll.

Safety 3rd!
