What RPM do You shift at?

I've heard things as high as 3100 and as low as 1800. Where do you guys find is the best time to shift, and how does it impact your mileage? Just trying to find a comfortable timing that doesnt burn too much fuel. Thanks!

2500-3500 depending on how "enthusiastic" my driving is that day

I shift around 2100. For best mileage, you want lower rpm shifts, but not so low you lug the engine.
I think 3100 is too high for DDing.

yeah i went up to around 2900 and it seemed a bit too high… I just think this is a good idea for a thread… maybe help people out there looking for more miles. I sure dont feel like spending 70 dollars per week on gas. Everyone keep posting, thanks again!

What kind of mileage are you getting with the 4" lift and 35's? I'm about to jump up to 35's, and am curious what lies ahead.

Man, my jeep is shipping to my house now, i just bought it. But if it is geared correctly, I have heard that the mileage isnt much worse at all. It looks great so i would recommend it… but this might be a question to hand up to someone with some more experience… good luck if you switch though, i think you should just do whatever you believe is right.

I know I'm drivin' a YJ, but it's all the same. I generally shift at 2100.

I love the look of the YJ. The dash is so simple and elegant. I like the JK's too but… idk i think that it lost some of the classic jeep ideals. Just my opinion… i know lots of people that love their JKs and i am not saying it is bad at all. I just want to keep it simple.

I shift around 3500-5500 rpms, it's a gas engine not a deisel.

I think you're a little off. The shell on a turtle is thicker by a factor of 1.6783 while compared to the speed of a Puma, when chasing a rabbit. Therefore, if you hit a nail with a 4 lb. hammer, the thickness of the wood needs to be 4, and your grip should be on your lower regions.

I shift by ear....when the RPM's sound and feel right....I would assume somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.5-3k (depending on how much of a hurry I'm in)

It's also not a ricer. This is just regular ***, driving down the street shifting??? Not merging on an interstate or something?
