What gears do I have?

I have an 02 TJ - X with auto/ i-6. I am not sure what gears I have. The reason I am asking is because this is my dd and I do a decent amount of highway and Im looking into a 3.25 RC w/ 1.25 BL and 1 MML with 33s so I wanted to make sure I either regeared or was fine with what I had.

I checked on my way home today and I was a little over 3000 rpm at 70 mph. I looked at a rpm calculator and with 3.07 auto at 70 it was saying 2407 and for 3.73 it was saying 2924. I read and saw the 4.0L i-6 comes with 3.07 or 3.73 so does this mean I have 3.73? Is there a way for me to physically check?

Also will 3.73 be fine with auto / i-6 and 33s as a dd?

Sorry for the long thread and thanks in advance for the help!

There should be a tag on the side of the diff... you probably have 3.73's though.. I'd say it would probably take out your overdrive but it may be alright. I'd look into regearing in the future though.

You realize you won't need all that lift to run 33s right, the 2.5" RC lift with 1.25" BL is plenty for 33s. Your overdrive will probably not work the best anymore even with 3.73s, 4.10s like my Rubicon has is questionable with that size tire.

He doesn't have overdrive, no worries there.

Be very careful with the wife mod. Uninstallation can be extremely expensive. Wife mods have been known to take the Jeep and all other mods during the uninstall process. Also, make sure you service your wife mod properly as often as humanly possible. Wife mods not properly serviced may malfuction or uninstall themselves at any time.

You're driving from the wrong seat.

Lol.

OP the best way to tell what you have is either get under the Jeep and look at the tag or go to the dealership and ask the guy at the parts counter for a build sheet and it will be on there

There is good info in the FAQ on this. Here is a link:
