you are going to get some people who like the 4.10's and some who will like the 4.56. I just had 4.10's put in my 97 tj with the 4.0 and 3sp auto. I personally am glad I went with the 4.10 gears. if i went with the 4.56 gears the engine would have been screaming on the highway. Just as an FYI with my 35's and 4.10's im right at 2750rpm at 65mph. Now to be honest their are times when i feel the low end should have a little more power which would be where the 4.56's would be better. But ill give up a little low end for better highway manners. It will all come down to your driving habits and what exactly your looking to get out of it.

Like Maxxram said, there is no exact match. I'm guessing you currently have 3:73's and the stock tires were 29's. 4:56's would be the closest but your RPM's will be up a little higher. If you are running mainly on the street, 4:10's will probably be better for gas milage. 4:56's will be better offroad. It's just one of those head bangers........

This link will give you a general idea.

4.56 is the right choice with 35's, 6-cylinder, and 3-speed auto. AlloyUSA gears should be fine. I run AlloyUSA axles but Superior gears (4.88's), just worked out that way, nothing against AlloyUSA. I've had no issues with the Superior gears.

If you're not driving on the highway often, 4.56's or 4.88's would be ideal.
What kind of wheel'n do you do in Ohio? Rocks? Mud?
I primarily run rocks, and so my 4.88's matched to 35's and a 3-speed Auto work like a charm.
So to answer your question,,,,if the only choices are 4.10's or 4.56's,,,I would say the latter.

4.56 is way too tall if you will drive on the freeway. I did this for about 6 years...drove me friggin nuts. I only put about 25K on the jeep in that 6 years because it sucked on the highway so bad running 3K rpm and 60mph. I went back down to 4.10 and am VERY VERY happy with it.

you don't really need super low gears in the diffs for offroad, your auto will make up for that.

I think you will be happy with 4.10s if you run hwy more. I run a 3spd auto, 33's, and 4.10s and the RPMs are a little high. I do a lot of hwy driving and look fwd to putting 35s and getting some lower rpms. I agree with Volkman for offroad, an auto and torque converter will give you back a lot of low end power. plus you could have the best of both worlds if you added a 4:1 kit to you TC. Let us know what you go with and how you like it

Not to hijack, but how big of a difference is it going from 3.07's to 3.73's, and 3.73's, and 4.10's?

You guys have said 4.56's which on a 35" tire, sound right. But I also assume it depends on the tranny too..

4.10s are the choice! I have that combo, and it's truly ideal for that tranny and tire size. I DO however have a 4:1 for off-road, so that makes a difference. My RPMs are about 3000 at 70, which is just about perfect for the 4.0 engine.

4.56 is not to deep for the highway.

3,200 rpm at 70 mph is fine.

The extra low end you get with 4.56 vs. 4.10 is well worth the slight gain in rpm at highway speeds.
