Are you looking at the correct numbers?Where the circled numbers are should read 307 or 373.

I dont have a tag on the rear. But on the front it says something like that on the tag. I have the rear open and was looking at the ring gear reads what I posted, not the tag.

Usually the ring gear will say something like 11:41 (for example) which would be 3.73.

But, since 43:14 is 3.07:1, I think that's what you have.

Also, if your front has a gear ratio tag, the rear should be the same.

the front tag does read 3.07 according to the picture you have posted. I am still not sure if the PO re-geared though which is why I am asking.

Yep, you have 3.07.

The "43 14" you see is the ring gear tooth count and the pinion gear tooth count.

43 divided by 14 = 3.07

I feel your pain. I'm running 32's with my 3.07's and haven't even bothered to use 5th gear in months, except downhill with a tail wind!

I have 3.07 gears with 31's, and I don't have any issues...and I get about 18mpg to boot...What's the deal with everyone so upset? Granted, I don't think I can take this thing up a cliff without a winch doing all of the leg work, but it's a DD, so I'm happy with my fuel mileage...

I don't think anyone should be racing econo boxes or jeeps as they are both to slow! I know because I own both lol
