What Do You Do With Your Doors??

OK, so if you're out for a day of serious wheeling of course you either take them off and leave them, or leave them on.
But what about the rest of the time? If your rig is a daily driver, or you are on vacation or something, what do you do with your doors when you want to take them off? You dont have to leave your soft top at home every time you want to put it down, why should your doors be the same way? I think it would be great to have a way to take your doors off, and still have them with you.

The reason I ask is that I am in the process of patenting and manufacturing a door rack that will hold the doors for you - so you can take them off and still have them with you when you need them.

I've been daily driving and off-roading with the prototype for about 3 years now, and I use it constantly and have gotten to the point that I don't knwo what I'd do without it, but that is just me.
I need to know if OTHER wrangler owners think there is a need for this - if there is enough interest for me to move ahead with it. Please be honest and let me know what you think.

here is click free - honestly if you have to have your doors like that,
i would rather them be on the jeep. i personally leave them in the
garage where they are safe and sound. i would personally never ever
do jeep doors that way.

im sure some folks will love it.

it looks cool. but will it work if you have a roof rack? will it hold the doors enough to make sure they stay on while wheeling?

THANKS for putting up the pics! And thanks for your comments. It is great to leave your doors at home if you have a garage and don't have to carry them up 2 flights of steps to your apartment. Probably wouldnt have thought of the idea if i had a garage. :-)

Thanks, and YES it will work with a roof rack. I had a Gavin Industries Expedition rack and it worked fine with it. The ONLY thing it wont work with is a hard top.

As for holding the doors, in 3 years I went to over 25 jeep jamborees and 3 camp jeeps with them on the rack. I'd say I put the time into testing the design :-)

Thanks for the input. Actually, they don't block anything you can't see with your mirrors or by turning your head.

they completely block the view of the backseat riders....and i would think they would get torn to shreds in some of the tighter trails or off camber situations where the rig may be leaning to much in a tight area and rocks/trees/ etc would grab them....i guess if they work for you then great, but you take your doors off for a reason, so you don't have them, not to just put them in an even more awkward place....almost might as well leave them on.

x2

I'd rather take them off at the trailhead and lock them to a tree. Or just leave them at home.

It is better than the rack that mounts them to the back though.

I personally think it looks goofy. If I had to leave my doors atached and had a choice of this or leaving them on I too would just leave them on. I usually just toss mint in the yard. Mostly just lean them against a tree.

Thanks for your comments. I take my doors off so I can enjoy the sunshine on a nice day, and hang my foot out. I guess it's important to NOT have to say "well I'll just leave them on" because then I'm not getting the benfit that was designed into the vehicle.

I guess I'd just leave my top up all the time too if i had to completely remove it everytime i wanted it down.

You're on the right track. Maybe some form of lay-flat roof rack storage would be more viable to keep 'em safe and out of sightlines. Now you've got me thinking!
