Regear. No easy way to squeeze more power out of the 4.0.

Which will do nothing except empty your wallet. The stock air box already flows more than enough air for the 4.0.

I have always had good luck out of the Edge Trailjammer kits. Noticeable difference in power.

My buddy is running a 75 shot Nitrous Express Kit on his 4.0L YJ. He has 5.13, 60's 39.5 Iroks. the 4.0 has a CAI and mild cam. We do alot of steep climbs and this was the cheapest options to get more power. He cannot keep up with the V8 crew but he smokes the 4.0 guys.

X2. Despite all the hype and very effective wording of some advertisements for all the snake oil products out there that claim to boost HP, they're a complete waste of $$$. Things like throttle body spacers, K&N air filters, cold-air intakes, etc. are designed to do just one thing extremely well and they do that very well... separate the young and/or naive from their $$$.

Best bang for the buck is to get a regear from a quality shop. What gear size do you have with the 2.5L and 225/55/16 tires? Do you ever plan to go with bigger tires?

I've done intake and exhaust mods and found that it does help a little - gave a little more responsiveness, a little more torque and I gained 0.5 mpg with stock tires. None of that will give the 4.0L the performance of a 4.6L stroker or a V8. General opinion on this forum is that the money is best spent on other things.

What I would want is a V8, but isnt that much more expensive than a 4l swap?

He says he has a 4.0L engine but his Profile says 2.5L.

A 4.0L with the right gearing is great IMO. So which is it - 2.5 or 4.0???

Switching to an electric fan should free up a little power.

Not really, there is no free lunch. The current drain from an electric fan just makes it harder to turn the alternator and few electric fans throw even close to the volume of air the engine's mechanical fan is capable of.

I am just debating. I can get this 4L engine with everthing for $2000 or should I go with a V8?
