What to do first?

So I got some money burning a hole in my pocket and I need to know what to do first...
I already have a 8.8 w/ 4:10 gears and a artec bracket kit. I also already have the ring and pinion to regear my dana 30 in the front.

I do not have the time to put the 8.8 in and regear the it myself.
I am looking at
250-300 in parts for the 8.8 install
400 for the labor(said it would take about 2.5 days to put in)
500 for the rest of the parts and labor for the front
Or
should I do a sye and new ds first? Looking at 400-500ish

do these prices seem fair? Should I do something else first? Should I skip the regear in the front and try to find a 4 cyl front?

Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

finding a high pinion 30 with 4.10 gears is most likely going to be the cheapest option for the front (dont forget to factor in the cost of some adjustable control arms though).

you could also put the 8.8 in and run it without the front driveshaft until you source or regear the front

Any suggestions on where to find one? I looked on CL but they are really hard to find. Did they come in anything other than a 4cyl wrangler?

mainly craigslist, here on the forum, pirate4x4 or your local salvage yard. they came in cherokees. do some research on which is the preferred model as some are not. there are several threads going right now concerning this.

If you get the SYE/DS now, then swap in the 8.8 and an HP30 later, would you then need to have the DS lengths changed? I ask because I have no 8.8 experience but it might be something to think about before you make the decision.

I went SYE/DS/regear then ended up finding a set of d44's out of a Rubicon and shelled out about $500 more dollars this week to have both DS's rebuilt to the correct size for the new axles since the yokes are a lot longer on the d44s. No clue if an 8.8 and/or HP30 would have the same issue which could cost you more cash in the long run but maybe someone around here with experience would know more.
