So I actually did pick up my tow bar from the dealership today, and it came with two different-sized hitch balls and two receiver plugs, hehehe...
It came with the smaller ball and the one plug included in the large box, and then they also gave me the wiring and a bigger ball in a "fitting kit," and an extra plug in its own injection moulded packet, just like you would buy it off the shelf. I guess they give us a spare over here because they know how quickly the original one would disappear in what we call affirmative shopping!
I think the bigger ball is the local requirement over here, but now the threaded shaft is also significantly thicker, so I'm wondering if it would be safe to have the hole in the tongue enlarged. Surely that would weaken the tongue? Gonna give them a call tomorrow.
got my Banks exhaust installed today. i was worried it was going to be loud and obnoxious because its a straight through muffler but it sounds amazing and not too loud... got that done then went to play in the rocks near a retention pond. nothing serious but just to mess around in... heres a pic i took when i stopped for a sec...
the bump stop fell out while trying to jam one of the new springs in, and i am finding it impossible to shove it back in. any tricks?
gotta run to harbor frieght now to buy a spring compessor, i'm never going to shove that in without it!
If you have an auto zone near by you can rent the spring compressor for free...
Also, If you just remove th bumpstops and retainers and set them inside the spring it will be easier to get the spring in. then bolt on the retainer and use something against the spring to pry the bumpstop back into place...

-Changed the oil using Royal Purple full synthetic 10W30 and a Napa Gold filter
-Greased all the zerks using Green Grease
-Washed out the frame, getting all sorts of rocks and dirt out of there!
-Took off the front wheels and started fixing up the surface rust on the frame. I wire wheeled the problem welds and spots, and then shot them with semi-gloss Rustoleum.
-I also quickly painted the hub assemblies, after blowing off the flaking rust with high pressure shop air (impossible to get the die grinder in there!)
mounted a 5lb fire extinguisher at the base of the driver seat ala the Geezer jeep (Jerry Branford).
The only catch is that his driver seat isn't ez-entry while mine is which makes it a little more difficult as there is less metal lower on the bracket to put a hole through. I ended up using a 2" wide bar where he had used a 1" and bolted it higher up. It works.
