CB antenna mount painted and installed. Ran the cable through the gap at the bottom of the light and up through the rubber gourmet in the corner of the tub. I like the clean look versus having it mounted center on the tailgate with a cable running across it.

Could have saved yourself some money and used RTV on the backside of the nut...

I searched and everyone who did that had another leak with the quickness.

Did that work for you?

Most people discard the rubber star washer if there is a failure and put a liberal amount of rtv midway down the yoke before reinstalling it. There was a discussion a few months back on the topic as one major manufacturer of SYE kits has stopped including the rubber star washer all together and has the rtv method in their instructions. Unfortunately, I can't remember which manufacturer it is.

It also seems like Blaine uses the method but I can't remember if it was him or not discussing the matter.

Thanks for the heads up!!!

I may have to give this method a shot. Will any rtv suffice?

Ultra black is what was recommended to me. No problems here.

Yep, JB Conversions doesn't use the star washer and says to use RTV. I used a liberal amount and no leaks.

Cool thanks. I'll do this ASAP.

Waiting on this washer seal has held me up for over a week.

bbradUSMC;
It looks like you have the right side antenna mount on the left side. Not an issue unless you run the hardtop and can't open the back window.
I'm looking to add one (or two) of these mounts to my Jeep. I already have 2 VHF antennas on the front beside the hood, but need at least another radio for SAR work.

Ya I have had it on the pass side on my last jeep, the reason I put it on the drivers side is so I can run the cable like I did and have a nice clean set up. If I ever get a hard top I will run it on the pass side and try to deal with running it through the tub like the brake light harness is ran. This was the easier route.

I have a driver's side mount if you want it. It's yours for the price of shipping
