I also need to come up with some sort of disconnect system so I can pull either seat when I only have 2 passengers.

Any info on your tailgate. U reuse the stock tailgate and just add cj hinges and cables?

No it is a 77 CJ tailgate with original hinges. The cables, mounts, and "nut serts" for the bottom of the hinges are from SWAG Offroad.

This is the kit I got from SWAG but without the hinges

Since I was using the original latches I had to make brackets for them to go to so the gate would fit snug to the tub.
Latches are in the corners.

The L bracket was made out of UHMW. Got the idea from another thread on here.

This is how it looks closed and latched

jscherb who has multiple threads on here showed these in his trailer build so you wont have to pull the cover to open the tailgate. I will be going to these or slam latches.

Slam latch

If I do the slam latch I will have to make an L bracket to go from the pin to the outside of the jeep between the gate and the deck cover to open. That will only be 4 screw holes in the tailgate. If I do the other latches I will have to drill a 3/4" hole thru it. Can't really decide which way to go right now.

I can tell you it is strong as hell.

paid it off earlier this week and just looked at it as it sat in the driveway (not my DD). Trying to find time to do the LED instrument panel mod. too much non-Jeep stuff going on

Hell ya to that! We rode some trails in Ocala National forest tonight and it was chilly! OT I helped a fellow JJC member change out a leaky water pump on his TJ before we hit the course this morning at Jeeptoberfest.

With a WK, I could put like 3 grand in it and be finished
So much room for activities!
Heated seats, air conditioner that works, hot heat, 4 doors, cargo space...
I could get a Limited V8, 4wd, for 11ish grand, which means it would cost me almost nothing to get one

I'm going to see if my uncle wants to buy it for my 15yr old cousin first though.

edit: build something like this

My Jeep does look pretty badass and I do get alot of compliments...

Eh I don't know. I'll just have to do some more thinking and see what my dad thinks. I don't need/have to sell it, but if someone gave me $11,000-$11,500...I'd probably sell it.

I mean hell I have $6,000 in it right now, which for an 18yr old is alot. Sometimes I really wish I got a WK first and saved $3,000.

I guess we'll just see what happens.
