Ya, this is a quote from the BC Motor Vehicle Act:

Division 7, Schedule 11:

Quote:
Doors shall be installed in a vehicle where the vehicle was manufactured with doors.

The doors with which a vehicle is equipped shall be in good working order, and any hinge, latch or handle must not be broken, missing or inoperable.

The doors shall not be warped, twisted or weakened to the extent that a slight jar will open them.

A door shall be capable of being opened or closed with normal effort.
And according to an RCMP Staff Sgt that is a close family friend, CJ's are fine with no doors as they were optional equipment, however YJs and TJs came with doors as standard equipment so they have to be run with them.

I know a lot of officers don't enforce this, but technically no doors violates the MVA.

Man that's a pretty fine line. What about the fact that they were designed to be removed.

That fact doesn't seem to matter. Basically if the vehicle left the factory with doors on it, it has to be driven with doors on it as originally installed. Total BS as far as I'm concerned. The Fedex guy can drive his truck with both doors open, but a guy in a TJ can't?

There does seem to be some confusion regarding this issue among law enforcement as some cops have told me it doesn't matter, but others have. The staff sgt I know pointed me to the exact MVA section I quoted and said there's your answer, doorless = illegal.

Oh well, I'm going to take the chance. But not before I fab up or buy a driver's side mirror. Running without two mirrors is definitely illegal here and it's a safety issue as well.

What about using those safari tube doors...would that be a loop hole??? They mount and latch to the TJ's original door hardware

Ordered a winch and some new fog lights. Also reinstalled the HT for a long trip. The HT is easier on the kiddos on long rides, I was topless.

Installed my new Garvin Wilderness bumper, tire carrier, trail rack and blitz can holders. I had heard that the four interior bolts on this type of bumper are a pain to get started - and they ARE! Those four bolts took me about 2 hours to get in! All set for some fun this weekend!
