I removed the old dealership advertisement decals and put the Texas star and wreath decals on each side of the front fender in stead. I then got paint to match the hardtop and repaired the trail pin stripes. After fixing a cross-threaded hole, I finally got my driver's side fender flare properly mounted.

Here is the finished product.

I started to try to mount my new winch plate and winch, but discovered I was missing a bag of necessary stuff (nuts, bolts, washers, etc) that must have fallen out when the cardboard box was torn in transit. I called Rough Country, and they will be shipping out a replacement bag (with the missing goodies) Monday. Hopefully I can finish that up next week.

Aghh, the Nook, nice device.

Turned my old 7" flares into 4.5" Flatties, and cleaned them up with some plastic paint. Not as fancy looking at the real flat flares from Zenon, but hard to beat for the $5 bucks in paint and couple hours it took to complete.

3/4" LED lights on their way to replace the side marker lights, that's why I cut the front of the flares up a little bit high, to make room for the LED marker light in the side of the metal fender.

Looks pretty nice, but needs more crossbracing, the first time you lay the belly on a rock it will bend the skid and stuff the transfercase up into the floor at the very least.

High-end Tune Up

Had some fun under the hood of my new-to-me '99 Sahara with 170k miles...

Ok, it was actually yesterday not today but just getting to post this: Screamin' Demon coil, Performance Distributors cap & rotor, LiveWires plug wires, Diamond E-3 plugs, K&N air cleaner, changed the oil with Mobil 1 and K&N oil filter, replaced TPS (which was giving me a very sporadic P0123 code, best as I could tell under hard acceleration) all in time to take my little boys out for an hour-long ride in the country yesterday afternoon.

She is running STRONG! I know people out here argue about the benefits of different components- plugs, air filters etc etc but she is running very smooth and there's a noticeable pick-up in power and acceleration. Not sure any one thing made a difference; may just be replacing all the old stuff (last record I could find of tune-up was done at 116k). But I am a very happy Jeep owner this morning, and the sun is going to be shining all day...!
