Drove my Jeep to the mechanic's shop to enquire about my 2001 Durango that's been in the shop...................the news wasn't good. Apparently she threw a rod and I'm pissed cause it's a one owner with 148k in great shape. Should I fork over $3600 for a refurbished motor installed with a one year warranty or just sell it as it sits for pennies on the dollar? Your thoughts please.

Assuming the vehicle's value is less than the $3600 your considering putting in it and the mileage on it, I'd let it go.

Yeah that would be the smart thing to do, but I don't really know how to get rid of a vehicle that doesn't run but is otherwise in great condition. Is there a market for that? I don't really want to mess with parting it out. I'm wondering if it would sell of ebay for $1000-$1500 or so, or am I dreaming?

Put a used engine in it. At that mileage, I woundn't dump that much cash into it.

I went and visited my Jeep at the body shop. Getting new fenders and a tailgate put on and the little rust fixed up on the tub. Then new paint.

I ratchet strapped the spare tire into the tub, and removed the spare tire tailgate mount. I'm going out tomorrow and I don't like the weight of the 33x12.5 on the tailgate for even driving around town, let alone bouncing around on some rocks. I'm having a friend make a brace to attach to the rear bumper to push up on/help support the weight of the spare. Once that's done I'll feel better about it.

I also removed the upper doors. Hard top and half doors looks sweet!
