tested out my new tires after work this morning, and forgot to swap my bkini/duster/windjammer out and put up the soft top so now I have a bunch of mud on the inside

Jeep Jay, do you have any pics of the CJ style tailgate you just put on?? If it is an actual CJ tailgate, I think it will only work with a soft top b/c of the way the CJ tailgates open from the inside.

An inch and half. More than that you need to notch the plate to fit the footwell depression and body mount. Also with all that weight you'll want to put bolts through the floorboard to support it as well, which I didn't feel like to drill more holes on.
