Yes, when I would turn left or right slowly, I would get this awe full bang sound in the axle. In the pic, you can see pieces of metal floating in the oil. The spider gears I think were a napa special $30, then $60 to have them put in.

Lurch - Love the quote haha.

If I lived closer, I'd help you out. Find someone that knows how to do it, once you do it once, it's a very simple thing to do.

Noticed that my steering stablizer was just hanging there... Someone forgot to put some locktight on the bolt that holds it on

Don't pay someone $60 to change spiders, it's way too simple to do it your self. All you have to do is remove the crosspin, push the shafts in (tires must be removed), reomve the C-clips, slide the axles back until they clear the spiders, and then roll the old spiders out and the new ones in...

Be very careful with the wife mod. Uninstallation can be extremely expensive. Wife mods have been known to take the Jeep and all other mods during the uninstall process. Also, make sure you service your wife mod properly as often as humanly possible. Wife mods not properly serviced may malfuction or uninstall themselves at any time.

True, I didn't feel comfortable doing it myself.

I like the ingenuity... but why not just install a safety enable/disable switch in a harder to reach spot or with a safety cover? Perhaps down by the t/case shifter so you can just flip it when you put it in 4wd, enabling the individual locker switches only when you want and preventing them from being activated accidentally...

Or, if you really want to get fancy, you could hook them into the 4wd indicator on the dash so they only work if the jeep is in 4wd...

Just a thought

My contribution to the thread today: I dropped mine at the dealership this morning for a new converter/downpipe assembly. On the way home, the goo from the Mopar part label started smoking off and smelled nice too.
