Reinforce it by welding two pieces of 2" X 2" angle iron length-wise a couple of inches in from the edges. Makes a big difference in the strength of this skid. I did that to mine after I got tired of leaning it against the curb and jumping on it to straighten it out.

Well, I did it.
I changed out the old, very cracked exhaust manifold on my TJ. Outside of brakes and the usual stuff, this was big for me. It turned out great; the Jeep is quiet and has a bit more power. As cracked as the old one was, I would bet it was running very rich. I hope that equates into better MPG.
It was not as bad as I 1st thought it might be, but it took some elbow grease to get it done. Took one evening and about 6 hours the next day. I would guess next time (hope it never comes ) it could be done in 6 total and then hopefully never again.
Hey, for all those that think they can't do it, think again. If I can, you can. And I saved enough in labor and over-charged parts ($198+tax for a $65 part? ), I have some new tools and put the rest toward a winch.
I'm stoked!

Thanks, I'm pretty happy so far. We'll see this week when I take it up to Hor Springs. The roll bar padding is just some pipe insulation that I got from Ace Hardware (1-3/4" X 5/8" IIRC) and a whole bunch of electrical tape.

Weekend: New radiator, upper/lower hoses, cap, thermostat/gasket, hose clamps, serp belt.
