WHAT DID I DO? T-case drop removal

I need your guys help to figure out why my T-case skid is not sitting right after t-case drop removal. So what I did was took a floor jack and put it under the skid and jacked it up. Then I removed the 3 bolts on passenger side and took T-case drop out. Did the same with the drivers side. Then when I jacked the skid back up and tightened the bolts up I couldn't get the skid to sit flush with the frame and I stripped 2 bolts trying to do so. Know my T-case skid and frame have a few cm of space in between them and my bolts are not flush with the t-case skid. I cant tighten the bolts anymore or they will strip like the first 2. What should I do or what did i do wrong? I am leaving for uhwarrie in the morning so any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure but if you need to drive somewhere tomorrow you might be best off putting the drop back on until you have some time to look into it again.

Did you put your CV driveshaft on when the TC drop was on? Maybe your driveshaft is too short and won't extend enough???

Did you loosen the transmission mount nuts underneath the skid?

Not sure if these are part of your problem or not but you need to loosen the 3 bolts in the middle of the skid too. And I would also check the linkage if you lengthen it when the tcase drop was added.

I am referring to the nuts in the center of the skid.

Did you remove (or at least loosen) the four transmission mount nuts? That should be the first step when adjusting or removing the t-case skid.

Maybe this is over simplified, but did you put in the original bolts or the ones that came with the drop kit? The drop kit bolts are usually longer, and aren't threaded all the way, so you may be bottoming out on the threads.

well It looks like i didn't loosen the tranny mounts under the skid and I guess I used the bolts that came with the drop and the shop threw out the old ones. So what do I do now? How do u get stripped bolts out?

They are the 4 in the middle of the transmission skid. Just loosen the nuts.

You might have broke the nutserts, which can be a pain.

To get the stripped bolts out, use a pry bar between the skid and the frame and exert downward pressure on the skid plate. Keep you jack just below the skid as you don't want it to fall. Then try to unscrew the bolt, with the downward pressure, you can hopefully catch a thread and back the bolt out. For replacement bolts, take one of the bolts to a local hardware store and get ones that are fully threaded. I don't remember if these are metric or not, and my jeep is 8000 miles away, so I can't check
