The woman and me have been going through a little rough patch and I needed to get out of the house today. So I went to some nearby forest access roads to play around. I know I broke the cardinal rule and went wheelin alone, but I came across a couple of rougher trails and you know how it is....."I'll just go down a little and see how it looks and then I'll turn around." I just needed to get out a little aggression. Well that turned out to be about 10 miles of some of the roughest trails I've been on since I bought the Jeep. Anyway, on the way home I kept getting a slight death wobble at about 50 mph. My question is, what do I need to look at or should I just go get a tire rotation and alignment( I'm 5,000 miles overdue). I don't have a lift, I'm just running 31's on a stock lift I think, My Jeep sits a little higher than most stock Jeeps that I've seen. Also, I did go through one pretty deep stream and got hung up on a rock for a minute, but I can't see any visable damage that could cause my DW.

You may have some dirt, mud or something inside your wheels, if not you may have scraped off a balance wieght.

I 'D look over all the steering linkages IE draglinks, tie rod ends and make sure that there not loose or bent, Also check your track bar to make sure all those bolts tight. It runs from the Frame on the drivers side to the axle on the passenger end Good luck vibes are deff not fun to chase

Ican see the weight theory being accurate But As a good Post off road Checklist Its always good to crawl under and look over stuff to make sure nothing is broke so that way you wont run into bigger problems

I checked for a pile of mud inside the wheel because I've heard of this before, but that's not it. I'm hoping that I just threw a weight and I'm out of balance. I checked all my linkages up front and everything looks fine and feels tight. It's right at about 50 mph and it's more of a gentle sway then it goes away when I get above or below that speed. If I stay at 50 mph I can feel it trying to sway back and forth.

Just a little update....It looks like I popped the lower grease fitting inside the driver side wheel. I noticed a bunch of grease splattered all over the inside of the wheel. I'm not sure what fitting this is called, because I'm not a mechanic, but I do know the rubber bladder is split down the side. It's the lower fitting with the zerk that points down. Could this be the cause of my loose steering?

You may have popped it out of joint right there or ruined the fitting all together.. Sure it's a simple/inexpenseive fix..

Yeah...I've broken grease fittings on the pick up truck that I had before I got the Jeep. Not a bad fix as long as that's IT. What's that fitting particular fitting called, so I don't look TOO stupid? The Jeep is little different in the front end than anything else I've owned.

i also hear that an old truckers trick is to put pellet-shots in the tires itself (like BBs, from a bb-gun) not sure how much you need to put in but i think the concept is the same, ive never looked this up so you might have to do some research there ...

Look in the wheel board for bb balancing. It works for some people and dosen't for other. I tried them but it dosen't work even for my 30" tires.
