what backspacing for 33x12.5"mtr,on15x8" rockcrawlers with a 3.5"re standard lift

I called up 4wheelparts.com to order a set of tech 1 rockcrawlers, and said I wanted 4.5" backspacing. He told me not for a wrangler, that 4.5" was for cherokee, and that I needed 3.75". I was initially going to run 32x11.5", but think I have changed my mind since everyone seems to be at, or looking to get to 33x12.5". I just don't wan't my tires to stick out to far ,or be to far in they rub. I've emailed a few members, replied to a couple of their post ,who have the same setup Im going for(3.5"re standard lift),but they have never answered me so any help will be appreciated.

If you add a washer or two under the two steering stop bolts, you can run 4.5" of backspacing on a TJ with 33x12.50 and 35x12.50 tires. I did it for several years and it was perfect. You were talking to a sales-droid who probably drives a 2wd Toyota p/u truck jacked up to look like a prerunner who knows nothing about Jeeps. I preferred 4.5" of BS because it kept the tires tucked in more which was better for the narrow types of trails I seemed to be finding myself in.

To be sure, 4.5" of backspacing is the most backspacing you can safely run with a 12.5" wide tire. Go to http://www.imajeep.com/Steering_Stop...ering_stop.htm for directions on how to add the washer (maybe two) under both steering stop bolts. Doing so will VERY slightly increase your turning radius but I sure never noticed it myself... it still turns on a dime.

i listened to jerry when i bought my rims and tires...if you look at my sig i have the exact same setup you are going for. the 4.5 works really well and just like jerry said the tires dont stick out too far, they are tucked in nicely
