Weird reverse clunking noise

Lately I have noticed when I turn and back up, I hear a clunking noise coming from the rear of the Jeep. It only happens when I turn, not when going straight. Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks
Matt

I had a clunk when backing up after installing my lift. Turns out I did not have my rear control arm torqued enough.

Do you have a locker? Please fill out your jeep info, it helps us know what your setup is.

Check/tighten your rear trackbar and your track bar relocation mount (if you have one) I bet that fixes it.

One clunk or two?
You may have problems with the spider gears in the differential.

1) Try raising the tires so they are free to turn,
In park, rotate one tire.--

2) Try blocking one tire,
In neutral, rotate the other one.---

Check all the things that have been suggested. Let us know how it goes.

2004 wrangler sport, stock, automatic

I also have a wierd clunk in my wrangler. It has24000 miles on it. It is an automatic stock and it happens when i transition between reverse and drive. and i can tell its not the transmission. It also happens once in awhile turning around sharp corners when starting out.
