Weird jump in RPMS in my 2.5L TJ. Bad Clutch?
I've been searching and searching but I can't seem to find any sort of thread on this already. So it would be great if anyone can help me :D
As of late I've been driving around and getting a weird drop in throttle when I step on the gas pedal. It doesn't happen all the time and it only drops for a half a second, just enough to agitate me and any passengers. More importantly, it makes wheeling up rocks as difficult as all hell -.-
I was thinking clutch? But I'm not really sure if a bad one would cause this problem. The only other option suggested to me was throttle position sensor. I have the brown dog motor mount lifts that have caused a little engine shake too, if that's of any merit in this situation.
So... I have no idea.
Any ideas? Similar issues?
Your title says weird jump in rpms and your post says weird drop in throttle. I'm not understanding what your symptoms are. Are you losing power while having a simultaneous increase in rpms? If the answer is yes, That could be a slipping clutch. If the clutch is letting go it could be caused by a couple of different things. The first thing I would look at is an oil leak because these clutches hold up pretty well unless they are really abused.
Any other ideas? Bumpbump!
