The only problem is I couldn't find a good place for it anywhere. I ended up putting it under the vehicle next to the transmission. I guess it's only a matter of time until I cruch it though.
I'd like air horns but don't have the money. I'd have to look again but could you possibly put them on TOP of the transfer case skid? Is there enough room in there? That'd protect them from everything but water/mud.

I like the sound of the horn on my 03' TJ. Its not like a Deep American car kind of horn, or like a Japanese horn that sounds like a little Asian lady yelling at you when its honked.

The TJ horn sounds friendly I find. What do you guys/gals think? I don't think I'd change the horn unless it were broken or if some one gave me one.

Junkyard + El Dorado, Continental or Delta 88 + relay = $10 wimpy horn solution. Mid-90s F-series trucks also had decent sounding and loud dual horns from the factory.
The only way I would spend good money for a horn is if I had the room under the hood to go "General Lee" on it.

You kidding? It sounds like a sick goat! I was so embarassed by it that I would use my KC Daylighters as optical horns instead of pushing on the steering wheel!!!!

That's a really good idea. I'll check tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it'll fit. I still haven't gotten around to moving mine and I need to find the right spot.

And as far as money, you could set it up for $30 with a manual switch or $60-$70 with a solenoid valve. The big money is the horn...truck junkyards...I got mine from a company I used to work for from a scrap vehicle, $0.

If you want to know how to set up onboard air for very little money, let me know. As long as your main use is for a horn and maybe when fixing a flat or airing up bike tires, my setup works great. Add a bigger tank and you could do more. As long as you have a tank and your uses aren't too extreme, a cheap compressor is fine.

I just installed a set of Hella Supertones yesterday:

They are really loud! I'm not crazy about the sound they make but they do get the job done. Total current is about 12.5 Amps ( 72W X 2 ). I used the existing horn mounts. The one horn fires directly at the windshield washer container. This adds a little more bass to the tone which takes some of the "euro-ness" sound out of them.

Hella went the cheap route - "Not made in Germany...but India."

I added the stock horns from my old '00 TJ (1-420hz and 1-510hz) to the stock horn in my '05 LJ (1-420hz). Together they sound very good and it looks stock. So now I have (2) 420hz horns and (1) 510hz. They are all wired to the same circuit and I placed the new horns just behind the windshield reservoir on the fender top.
