Weenie horn on the Jeep

Honked it for the first time the other day and I had to laugh. What a weenie little horn it's got. I used to have a Cherokee years ago and I remember having to add an additional horn. Wires were already in place.

What are you replacing your factory horn with these days that has a little more beef suited to the vehicle's reputation?

I was recently given a huge air horn from a friend for helping him on his Jeep that I'll be installing within the next few weeks. I tested it using my shop compressor and all I could do was grin in pain after it nearly blew my ears out with its LOUD deep train/truck horn sound. My dog looked like he had been shot and limped out of the garage in shock with his tail between his legs.

I can't personally comment on the Wolo horn. I can say I have seen a good number of references to it and it's twins (the same looking horn appears under several brands) on a number of fourms for various vehicles so it may not be that bad. Check the price locally. I have seen it in Pep Boys. Like Jerry indicated, there is nothing like train horns. There are a number of sites that sell train like kits and a lot of people have put those in vehicles with lets say attention getting results. The trouble is they require compressors air tanks. The big ones require BIG compressors and tanks. Finding room can be an issue.

Yeah a few tests for fit found no space for it in the engine compartment nor underneath in the rear by the air tank. I think it's gonna have to go under the engine, maybe on the frame or perhaps on top of the new engine skidplate somewhere. If I was in Texas, I'd just mount it on the hood to the rear of the steer horns and be done with it.

That Jeep is actually in Texas and not in the Phillipines or India?

I have a 24" air horn from a mac truck on my jeep. There's nothing like the look on people's faces when I get them with it up close! My favorite is getting my friends to take a look at something on the jeep and then blasting it while they least expect it...makes me laugh every time.

The only problem is I couldn't find a good place for it anywhere. I ended up putting it under the vehicle next to the transmission. I guess it's only a matter of time until I cruch it though.
