Wax marks on Fender Flares

This is one heck of an issue... I waxed my jeep for winter to protect the paint from the salt and elements, and accidentally got a bit on my fender flare. The area the wax touched turned white (and i had just recently painted my flares with krylon so they're a nice rich black, making it twice as noticable... ). I have been scouring the web trying to figure out the best way to get that stuff off of there... Anyone ever have success removing wax marks from black jeep plastic? Here's what i have found...

1. Use a tooth brush and Peanut Butter (scrub it in, let it sit a bit and wash it out)
2. Rub the marks out with a pencil eraser
3. Dish soap and a soft brissled brush, scrub the affected area
4. Mr Clean Magic Eraser on the affected area
5. this thing: http://www.properautocare.com/waxbawaxre.html
6. Goo Gone brand "goo" remover
7. WD-40 on a rag, rub it in, wipe it off
8. "PPG -DX-440 wax and grease remover"

Anyone try and of these methods? Let me know which wouldnt work... I just want to avoid the solvent or "gasoliney smelling" methods cuz i dont want to strip off my nice krylon paint job.

Thanks!

****Edit: i figured out a great method, artist's kneaded rubber erasers, see my post on the next page... ****

next time just take some blue quick release painter's tape (2' wide stuff) and mask off the fender flares.

i know this did not answer your question.

get "Back to Black" it works great. It is a silicone based product that will help repel water and dirt form your fenders

Does the back to black also remove the white stains from cruddy wax also? I heard that stuff works good for restoring faded flares, is it also a cleaner?

I just looked up turtle wax ICE... ill be using that from now on, that stuff looks great.

Has anyone tried this? it appears to be EXACTLY what i am looking for...

Wax Blaster (link 1, has info)

Wax Blaster (link 2, has pictures)

All the talk about preventatives is GREAT! thanks for all the info on the ICE, i will be switching to that for now on as soon as i find a good solution to cleaning up the mess i already have.

i detail cars as a side job, i always use peanut butter and a stiff brush, if you heat the peanut butter in the microwave and scrub the plastic a few times, it will take most of the white streaks away if not all of it!

Try it!

Rubbing alcohol or prepsol from a auto paint supply store will remove wax. Don't like use a toothbrush as it will spray junk in areas you don't want. Just wet a terry towel and use it that way, cleans up good. What I do is put a healthy wet coating of Meg's #38 trim dressing on the black parts, then wax the car, if I get any on the black bits it cleans up easily when I wipe the excess #38 off the fenders, bumpers etc. I know the masking tape trick but there's just to much to do on the Wrangler and I have to put dressing on the black bits anyway as they fade to gray faster than my hair if I don't.
