my replacement water pump for the same problem was a Duramax from Autozone. Did this happen around 102k+ because thats where mine did.

I haven't used either of those brands, but if I were to replace my water pump I would get it from Napa and not worry.

I got mine from autozone and they have both held up well (had to do one in my wifes grand cherokee). If its installed right it will be fine. I really wouldn't suggest a hi flow one only because the system is not designed for it.

Avoid cheap water pumps with their so-called "Lifetime Warranty". Sure they will give you a new one if the one they sold you fails but they're so cheaply made, they WILL fail much sooner than the OE water pump will. Is the minor cost savings worth a couple extra hours of your labor, especially when it may fail at the least convenient time when you just don't have the time to swap it yourself?

I bought an Autozone "lifetime warranty" water pump and when I took it out of the box, I couldn't believe how cheaply made it was. I returned it for a refund and bought the OE pump for $40 more... and that $40 will be more than paid for since I know it'll easily outlast the cheap Autozone pump. And Autozone gives that lifetime warranty since they're betting you'll either sell the car before it goes bad or you'll forget about the warranty and just buy another somewhere else when it fails.

There's a HUGE difference in quality between the OE and most aftermarket water pumps, be careful what you buy.

not sure what brand it was but i bought a kragen "lifetime warranty" water pump, i was pretty commited to the job as it was sunday, my old pump was off the vehical and i needed to go to work the next morning, the metal on this pump is really soft, so watch out not to strip the threads on the hose back to the heating system.

however, i am thinking that the leaking wasnt coming from a faulty pump, but rather a worn out gasket, im sure it would just require a gasket change, but it is better insurance to just replace the entire thing.

Just out of curiousity, Jerry, when you say OE (which I assume to mean original equipment) do you mean genuine Jeep/Chrysler/Mopar from a dealership?

My water pump just went bad yesterday at 97k, I got a new one from Autozone and plan on installing it today. Before I do all that what kind of WP did you use instead of the Autozone one?

That's correct.

OE = original equipment which is available from the dealer.
