Water Pump Replacement

I am about to change out the water pump because I think its causing some other problems. I did a squeeze test on the upper radiator hose and I dont feel a surge of water going thru as I release it. Actually I dont feel much if any difference in the pressure of the hose whether the veh is running or off. I changed the thermostat and it keeps the temp below 1/2 way on the gauge so I know that coolant is running thru the engine atleast some. I hope I am diagnosing this properly so i dont change the pump out when I dont have to. I think this is the cause of my no heat situation too. How much of a pain in the rear is changing this pump out and are there any suggestions to avoid any problems or short cuts to make my day easier???

i would be suspect of your diagnosis...

if it ain't overheating, i would have no reason to suspect the pump.

is the upper hose getting hot and pressurized when it is at operating temp?
are the heaterhoses getting hot?

i don't know all the ins and outs but i seem to recall there being some problems with the blend doors in the heater housing...that is where i would be lookin

all the heater stuff has been checked and ok. i just have to flush the heater core and then the water pump is the only thing left to replace or check.

If the water pump is bad you would be overheating very quickly.Maybe your new thermostat is bad like the one's I buy at Autozone.

today I am flushing the system and the heater core. If that doesnt work and the upper radiator hose still doesnt have pressure in it.....its gotta be the pump. right???
