water in passenger floor - help!

today i found water in the passenger floorboard. i remember having seen this listed as a problem with the a/c on 1997- 2003 tj's, requiring an extension on the condensation drain tube. somewhere i found a write up for doing this, but it has been months since then. i need to fix this soon, so any info would be appreciated. i drive a 98. thanks guys!

It's not always the AC. I read awhile back where someone removed their cowl on the outside, and took silicone and sealed all the spot welds, and it fixed theirs. Mine isn't AC related, cause i havent ran mine in weeks, yet after the last rain I got a lot in my passenger floorboard too.

check behind the battery

My TJ (which I sold ) leaked around the blower motor foam seal behind the battery. After removing the battery I resealed all around the foam with silicone and it took care of the problem. The way you can tell if it's leaking there is to take a flashlight and look inside at that area you'll see water streaks inside where the water ran down. Sorry no photos because I just sold my TJ for a Grand Cherokee. Hope you find the problem mine never leaked after I sealed it. Good luck.

Remove the hood cowl and seal around the vent box and every spot weld or crack you can see.I sealed mine with clear silicone and missed one small spot weld and got an inch of water on the floor.I fixed it in 15 minutes and now I'm dry. Seal everything!
