Volt gauge acting up

Hi have a 98 tj 4l, was driving today and the check gauges light came on and the volt meter was reading very low. Everything is running fine on the jeep. I pulled over shut the jeep off when I turn the key it fires right up again. I drive for about 15-30 seconds and it does the same thing. I drove home (25minutes) with the stereo going, head lights on and no signs of battery or alternator problems.ie: no dimming lights or anything like that. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

yeah I have, it ended up being the alternator. $150 later and everything is back up and running.

Thanks for the reply
