Hey Stu! Great thread! Will the Viking fasttop fit over the Poison Spyder full cage? I would like to know before I purchase?? Any info would be greatly appreciated on this.

How the heck am I suppose to know that?

I don't have a Poison Spyder full cage....but if you get me one, I'll install it and let you know how it fits.

Stu,

You are forgetting that you belong to an exclusive club of people we trust on these forums.

Now think again, and answer the question.

I know that Stu's response sounds harsh but...he is right. How would he know? I would suggest contacting Thor at Viking Off-Road and asking the question. I know that the top is a very tight fit...which is what you want. I know that there are guys that use the bolt-in roll-cage additions and had to remove the back bar so that the top would fit...so I would assume that it would not work but Thor would be the one to ask.

I think it is funny that Stu wrote in his write-up of the top:

"Speaking of adjustments.....get use to them. What I mean is that once you start to modify your TJ, you will find that as time goes on, your existing mods can very likely interfere with a new mod. My point....mods will eventually interfere with mods and you just need to improvise a bit and work around the problems. It can be done....take your time and come up with a workable solution. Welcome to modifying the best 4x4 vehicle that ever had tires on the ground!"

Hey Stu! I appreciate the reply. My post was actually intended to ask anyone out there reading the thread if they actually know if someone has tried this mod. My Bad!! I should've been clearer of what I was asking. I had not seen your write up on your website at that time so I did not know what mods you actually had. I have already contacted PSC & Viking with no luck. Anyway, great website. Very informative!

P.S. I'll contact PSC about sending you a full cage kit shipped to your door. I can't promise they'll do it though!

More than likely like the PSC cage will not allow the viking to fit correctly, or even at all. If my memory serves me right, the PSC rear spreader bar is elevation 2-5" off of the stock roll bar lines which the Viking follows. With my stock rear bars, the Viking fits very snug. Some reports have said with proper placement of the rockhard spreader bar you can get the Viking top to fit.

You could always cut the rear spreader bar off and install a straight tube

The full cage they sell doesn't use the same spreader bar that the trail cage uses... the rear section is completely different. My guess is that it would not work. If you want to use the Viking top you'd be better off having custom cage made with the rear section in roughly the same configuration as stock.

Don't get me wrong i think this is an awesome top, and i wouldn't mind getting one, but does anybody else think these are way over priced for what you get? Any feedback here?

I had the first version, the one that had problems with the seams coming
apart. When it started to separate, I contacted Thor @ Viking Offroad and
without hesitation he sent me a new version that had addressed and fixed
the issues. I have had that one on for a while now (~1 year) and have
had ZERO issues with it. It doesnt leak, its easy to convert, it looks sharp
as all hell. I in no way feel its overpriced. Of course mine was $595 w/ free
shipping from David @ Northridge, but I dont think that nor the newer price
is "overpriced."

Price out a *NEW* tj top from the dealership then ask yourself the same question.

For another comparison.. most full tops from bestop are $600-$800+, and I think the viking frameless is a much better setup. They look nicer, they have way larger rear windows, and the safari configuration looks and fits way better that the bestop safari.

In my opinion, well worth the money!
