Vanco Brakes or 4 wheel disc brakes?

My Jeep came factory equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes. When I move up to 35's will that be fine, or would I still be better off upgrading to the Vanco brakes?

You will definitely want to upgrade to the Vanco kit.

My jeep also had 4 wheel disc - If your question is "would you be better off" then yes! The other thing to consider when you move up to 35s is your jeep weight - usually people will add some armor, a winch, a full size spare etc.... I don't want to worry about being able to stop when the "soccer mom" pulls out in front of me.

The kit is not cheap (just ordered my kit with yellow stuff pads today actually) but the brakes are not something I want to skimp on. Some guys claim that their stock brakes work just fine on 35s but mine were suspect with 33s so it was an easy choice for me. Others will chime in Im sure.

The only true way is to wait and find out when you have the 35's installed. Mine work great/stock. But my 98 struggles with 31's.

Not a bad up-grade after all the reviews on here. I haven't read any that said they were not happy with it. Good luck with your build, And if you have the extra for the kit, go for it.

Short answer - unless your doing something where you will experience brake fade, your rear discs aren't going to stop much faster over a good working set of drum brakes. Even shorter answer - get the Vanco kit.

I'm pulling a 1600-1800# pop-up behind me, and with the Vanco kit I'm stopping better than I was on the stock brakes without the camper. I'm still considering putting on 7" electric brakes on the camper though.

im running drums in the rear, stock disc up front, when i asked the question on upgrading brakes on another forum they told me to upgrade the front to VANCO, and leave the rear the same as it is now. reason being if you have to much brakes in the rear it will have the habbit of trying to get around you. so should i just look into the front Vanco setup. i also need a website for prices.

since the fronts do 75% of the braking, i'd go with vanco's front upgrade.

Just call and talk to Van. He will get you taken care of. If you are unsure, don't order off the site, you might be ordering **** you don't need.

"LCOG" isn't cheap and it certainly isn't easy. If you think so, you are doing it wrong. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, don't label your build "LCOG". You are just a cheap ******bag.

Van won't sell you anything you don't need and is more than helpful on the phone. Just call and quit worrying your pretty little head over it.

Prices are going to change depending on what you buy obviously, but if you call Van, he'll get you taken care of. And even if the price seems high to you (what's high to some, isn't to others) just remember that you are talking about your potential ability to stop and not die or kill others in the process. When I do my build when I get back from the desert I have to talk to Van myself and see if he's got anything, or can make me anything for the possible 9"s in my future.

here is the email i got today from my shop, he talked to vanco directly

"I talked with Vanco today, their suggestion for your Jeep would be their disc brake upgrade kit, it would require their upgraded front knuckles, dual piston calipers, larger front rotors, and custom brake pads, this kit is $1050 plus shipping and your old knuckles returned to them, they are three weeks behind,
If you went to their hydro boost system, which they don't feel that you need, would be $775 for the hydro boost and $400 for the power steering upgrade, plus shipping"
