Well, I actually started this sometime in Jan. I worked on it pretty heavy for almost a month, but then started back to work, and with 4 kids and sports, my time has been very limited. Actually have not touched it in over 1 month. So, ordered everything for the fuel system so I could finish it over the holiday weekend, only to me shorted 2 small(but very important) fittings. I think I start back again on 6-7 day weeks this week, so it will probably sit again for a few weeks. My next project is to tackle the guages. I want to use aftermarket guages, but really want to hear it run first and drive it. I have yet to make up my mind on the front-end. I would LOVE a dynatrac 60, but my bank account would love a dana 30 LOL. For those thinking of this kind of build I would say to figure out the cost of everything before hand, then add around $5,000 for stupid crap, this thing has become like a drug to me, as I want nothing but the best for it now, even if it has to sit alittle longer to get it.
Thanks for the compliments, now to get the wife to agree.

What did they leave out? I just finished installing all of my fuel lines a week ago.

I think you should be fine with the D30 as long as you stick to 35s or less and as long as you don't mash the skinny pedal all over the place. I know the LJs came with 44s in the rear, did you keep the stock axle back there when you swapped everything? I'm pretty sure you should be fine with it as well. I'm keeping my AMC 20 until I can afford 1 tons and 40s. Only mod I'm doing to the axles is to carry spare shafts with me.

The tank, I setup for AN8, and the billet adapter at the fuel rail (part # 027-15118) is a nice piece that simply plugs onto the stock GM line at the intake, converting it to AN8 also. So, when I ordered my Howell harness, I also bought one of their fuel pumps. After getting it, it was 5/16" line (I think, don't remember exactly) and would have basically looked like a jerry rig job converting it down from an AN8 then back up to AN8 at the fuel rail, so I save alittle money up, and bought a pump from turn key. They were supposed to send both filters and pump setup for AN8 in and out, but the second pump came with AN6 inlet and AN8 outlet. My guess is they simply made a mistake, however on a holiday weekend in a small town, renders me out of service. And to top that off, I had my billet adapter in the truck, and I'm guessing that one of my kids thought it looked like a neat toy, and now it is missing in action, so another call to Jegs will fix that. As for my return, the 5.3 has it's regulator at the fuel rail, which needs a return line. I used part # 027-15117 from jegs again, to simply connect the return line on the fuel rail to the factory hard line (with a piece of braided line coming from the engine to connect it to the hard line on the frame with another billet adapter) and when I gutted my stock fuel pump assembly in the tank, it now has a straight shot back into the tank. I have my tank back out, so if I get a chance, I'll post up some pics of the pump and pickup.

I paid right at $1900 for the new frame. Jeep was kinda skimpy on the paint, as it was barely covered, with surface rust when I picked it up (actually they unloaded it straight to my trailer). I just thought that starting with a salvage vehicle, I wanted it fixed right. Now, the only parts that have been painted are the hood and grill, I picked up fenders from a jeep the same color from another member on this site.

Wow, the most auto knowledge I have is how to change my own oil, lol.

I wouldn't even attempt to do anything like that, but it does look like a pretty awesome.

This is one of the better builds I have seen on this forum. Nice work on the wreck. Are you going to have it re-titled, or keep the (I suppose) salvage title on it?

unfortunately it will be titled as a "rebuilt salvage". I know banks sometimes have trouble lending money on salvage titles, but with the pictures of this build from the ground up, should not be a problem if I need to sell it. I'm looking at rear-end options now. I would LOVE to do dynatrac, and most likely will go that route. I have a dana 44 in the rear factory, but would like 4.56 gears. On the front, I thought about the currie high 9 with vanco brakes, but that seems to be a pretty expensive option.

Not sure, I have all receipts up to this point, as I will have to have them for state inspection but guessing it's pushing $20,000.

Quick question: I got the intake finished today, with filter mounted. I have noticed that the kits you buy have a "shield" on the engine bay side. Do I need to fab something up for that? Not sure what it is for, unless to keep heat away or mud away from the filter. Also, got the tank put in, pump wired up and it works great.

That one wirey mess you got! I think the sheild, at least for aftermarket cai, is to keep unwanted heat away from the filter. Maybe wrong and if so some one Im sure will correct me...This is one of my favorite Jeep builds ever! Its liek your building my dream for me! Any way keep up the great work!
