I recently did a tailgate conversion on my Tj. I have a fold down tailgate now. What I also have is left over stock tailgate hinges. Mine are in perfect condition, and they have to be useful for something. Any ideas?
Has anyone used these hinges for anything? if so please post pics.
I just finished putting Kentrol on mine and will be using either the old hood hinges, tailgate hinges or both to connect the rock wall I am building to my kids' swingset. I just came back inside from sizing them and they should be a good fit.
When I was 20 I knew everything, when I was 30 I knew something, at 40 I know nothing!

[FONT="Century Gothic"]There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, ... and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.

They actually make for some pretty cool paper weights. Off topic, but I'm repainting my TJ, in the process I'm ditching the swing out and going for the fold down as well, OP did you buy a kit or do it yourself? I want to do it myself and would be nice to see what other people have done.
Actually I did not buy a kit. I followed a thread on here called $30 tailgate or something like it (can't remember the name right off. Anyway I adjusted the directions a little bit. He used two gate hinges with self tapping screws, and two tailgate cables from a chevy, and he said it held 360 lbs. I didn't doubt him, but I used heavy duty gate hinges, with grade 8 bolts, and nylon locking nuts, with 1/4" backing plates behind the body panel. I was able to do this fairly easily since I have a 3" bodylift. I did however use a seperate pin lock fairly similar to the kit that is available.
