URGENT need help advise balljoint

Hi all

I normally wouldnt post such a title. I am having a hard time getting out top dvrs side ball joint. I have the ball joint press and the addintional case with all adapters. I am cranking on it so tight that the c clamp is bending? I backed off try different adpaters but the ball joint wont BUDGE. I am afraid I will break something or have something fly out a speed, already had one pop and I fell backwards...................Any how my Q? is how much heat can I apply or shouldnt apply to the top part that the ball joint is in.??? Will the heat weaken that part the ball joint sits in??This is beyond any thing I have ever seen, it is VERY stubborn. ...................Please any advise appreciated.

Crank it down tight.
Then hit the side of the "C" next to the ball joint with a BIG hammer.
The u-joint ought to then pop loose.

Yep.

I use a 3 lb hammer and hit it hard...

Hi all I tried that but the c clamp is bending or deflecting. I am afraid something will snap and come out at speed...................

I will attempt it first thing in the morning

I think heat will work but I am not sure how much heat and how to apply it?

I'm thinking you didn't hit it hard enough. I have a small handled mini sledge I use for those stubborn suspension parts. I wouldn't apply any heat to anything on my suspension. Accident waiting to happen when you hit that next gnarly pothole.

Load the clamp pretty tightly, put on some safety glasses and then smack upwards on the bottom of the press. If you have the screw down, reverse it.
