upper control arms diy?
How can you make upper control arms I'm a welder jus not sure if you just use the length of stock control arms or add some I got 4 inch left that came wit lower but want to upgrade uppers any thoughts on making homemade long arm kit? I got pipebenders n everything is need I think help me out
I would assume if you set your pinion angles and measured the length of the control arm youd need, you could go with that length. I dont think there IS a proper measurement though. Just so you know, Im running adjustable lowers with a 4" short arm lift, and stock uppers currently.
you can make them. you will need to source 2 sets of poly bushings and sleeves if you are going to make them fixed length. if you want them adjustable you need to get about $50 in parts plus 2 bushing sets for your fixed end.
I am making a set of fixed uppers either tomorrow or Friday form my latest TJ project. I desperately need to correct my pinion angle. I plan on removing my stock uppers and adjusting the pinion with a jack to a corrected angle. then I will measure center to center for my new upper length.
I actually started the project today. I cut the 2 sleeves I need for the axle UCA mounts and found a piece of 1.5" DOM in the metal pile for the links. I will cut the sleeves for the frame side UCA mounts once I verify the width.
