Upgrade thoughts...advice
I have a 06 six-speed TJ with the dana 30/35 and 3.07, 31"s and a REBB, JKS discos. I found a good group of people to wheel with and now I'm planning the future of my jeep. I'd rather save and do it right in a year or so than buy stuff that I'll regret later.
I was thinking about doing the following in order: 1. 8.8 or D44 rear w/ ARB & 4.56 (is 4.56 good for 35" tires? I have 6-speed manual) 2. Regear D35 to 4.56 add ARB 3. Should I plan to do the SYE at the same time as the 8.8? 4. Lift questions. I want a low center of gravity, but plenty of flex. will the RE 3.5 be tall enough? Need long-arm? 5. Tires- 35" BFG M/T 6. Would like a little more capability now before I do the above. Anything that I could do now to gain performance that wouldn't be a waste of money? Aussie Front? I suppose more armor is in store (rockers, oil pan skid)

2. I assume you meant regear the front and throw in an ARB, which sounds like a plan (see comment on gearing above). 3. I would hold off on the SYE until you do your lift, not when you do your axle swap (unless you plan on doing the lift and swap at the same time). The thought behind this is you may need a longer driveshaft when you eventually do your lift, so might as well wait until then. 4. The 3.5" RE springs should be fine, but you might want to look at the 4.5" RE SuperFlex kit, with 3.5" springs swapped in. It is a much more complete kit and allows you the ability to go to a 4.5" coil should you ever decide. 5. Good choice, although pricey 6. You can never go wrong with armor. Its something that's gonna be a one-time investment that should stick with you as you modify your jeep over the years. With your BB, 31's, and discos, you have a decent rig to hit the trails with, so I would enjoy it and add armor over time. If you plan on throwing an ARB in the front, I would hold off on the Aussie for now (although you would be able to sell it used if you eventually go with an ARB).

Thanks so much for the reply. Would my current drive shaft work with the 8.8? You're right about the armor...I'm buying a diff cover for my d30 this week, then an oil pan skid and rockers.

I believe it will, however you will need a flange adapter for the 8.8 pinion.

Looks like I'll probably go with an 8.8
